Judith Kalman’s writing has appeared in magazines and anthologies. Although The County of Birches is her first book, her work has already received major acclaim, winning a 1995 Tilden Canadian Literary Award and both the Gold Award and the President's Medal at the National Magazine Awards in 1996. One of the stories in this collection was also selected for the 1997 Journey Prize Anthology. Judith Kalman lives with her family in Toronto.
