Once a fisherman, now a firefighter and award-winning chef, David Veljacic is the winner of two recent Awards of Excellence given by the U.S. National Barbecue Association. His barbecue sauce, under the label The Fire Chef, was named the best barbecue sauce in North America, while his first cookbook–The Fire Chef–placed second in the competition for the best barbecue/grilling cookbook in North America.
