Wayson Choy was born in Vancouver. The only son of two working parents, he was cared for in a variety of Chinese households. He teaches English at Humber College in Toronto. His stories have been published in a number of anthologies. His latest novel All That Matters, the sequel to The Jade Peony, was nominated for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. In 2008, Choy received the Harbourfront Festival Prize, honouring his substantial contribution to the world of books and writing over the years.
