![]() Author SpotlightThe paperback edition of Ishmael's heart-wrenching story A Long Way Gone, has been on shelves since August, a bestseller since shortly after that. A continuous sensation since it was first published in early 2007, the book's author Ishmael tells his story of being kidnapped as a young boy by the militia during Sierra Leone's civil war. With interference from UNICEF, he was removed from his horrible situation and rehabilitated. Now in New York City, he works as the children's ambassador for UNICEF.
