Jane Christmas - Speakeasy || Incontinent on the Continent

Who could resist picking up a book with a title like that? Jane Christmas's witticisms don't stop at the front cover, though. In her latest bitingly hilarious travelogue, Jane takes her ailing mother on what is supposed to be a bonding trip to Italy, and recounts the many misadventures they have along the way. In Episode 4 of Speakeasy, John talks to Jane about the challenges of traveling with this hard-as-nails lady who just happens to have given birth to her, granting her the right to criticize everything from Jane's hair style to her sense of direction. There's plenty of humour here, to be sure, but also a deeper emotion and insight that comes from that endlessly complex dynamic that is the mother-daughter relationship. Take a listen.
