Canada’s premier arctic traveler, Jerry Kobalenko has logged over 10,000 kilometers in the Arctic over the course of some thirty skiing, hiking and kayaking expeditions. He typically spends three months of the year in a tent in the North.
Both a writer and a photographer, Kobalenko’s work has appeared in hundreds of publications around the world, including National Geographic, Canadian Geographic, Outside, Condé Nast, BBC Wildlife, and Time. The New York Times Book Review describes how “the reader never feels assaulted by Kobalenko’s daring, only inspired by it.” He is the author of The Horizontal Everest: Extreme Journeys on Ellesmere Island, which won the Best Adventure Travel Book in 2002 at the Banff Mountain Book Festival.
When he is not on an extreme journey, Kobalenko lives in Canmore, Alberta with his wife Alexandra, who he shares many of his adventures with.
