<em>Fresh</em> In the Running for the Canadian Culinary Book Award

Fresh In the Running for the Canadian Culinary Book Award

John Bishop’s latest cookbook Fresh: Seasonal Recipes Made With Local Foods, cowritten with Dennis Green, has been nominated for the Canadian Culinary Book Award, sponsored by Cuisine Canada and the University of Guelph. The winner will be announced on November 7, 2008 at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. Bishop will take part in a live cooking demonstration during the fair.

Earlier this year, Fresh won first place in the Alcuin Awards for book design in the reference category, and was judged as having the Best Cookbook Cover in Canada, as part of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The book also won first place in Barbara-Jo’s Second Annual Cookbook Award – a local competition run by Barbara-Jo’s Books for Cooks in Vancouver, BC.

Restaurateur John Bishop and chef Dennis Green are renowned for their insistence on organically grown, locally sourced produce and sustainable seafoods. Fresh is an exquisite homage to local, sustainable food and the committed growers to raise it.
