D&M Publishers launches The Speakeasy, a new monthly podcast seriesIn tandem with a new homepage design, D&M Publishers has launched a podcast series called The Speakeasy. Working with former Georgia Straight book editor, John Burns, as host, and with the production and editing skills of Lift Studio, D&M will release one podcast per month featuring in-depth and intimate interviews with authors from both the Douglas & McIntyre and Greystone Books imprints. The first podcast airs today, Thursday, September 3rd, and features Douglas & McIntyre author Ray Wiss, whose book FOB Doc: A Doctor on the Frontlines in Afghanistan releases this month. Stationed in one of the most dangerous regions in the world at the moment, Dr. Wiss keeps a daily journal documenting the camaraderie, the terror and the heartbreak of living, and treating the wounded, on the battlefield. John talks frankly with Dr. Wiss in this very emotional first podcast. Listeners can subscribe to The Speakeasy via iTunes or can simply listen on the D&M site. Each episode will air the first week of the month. Novelist Ian Weir, author of Daniel O’Thunder, chats with John in October and Ted Hughes’s pal, Ehor Boyanowski describes his male-bonding experiences fishing with the acclaimed British poet in November. |
