Author Richard Cannings teams up with Greystone Books as Consulting Editor for natural history titles

Rob Sanders, publisher of Greystone Books, is pleased to announce that Richard Cannings has accepted the position of Consulting Editor, Natural History, for Greystone. In this role, Cannings will generate and develop new ideas for books, and he will generally assist the publisher continue to build a strong publishing program in the area of natural history.

Cannings works as a consulting biologist in Penticton, BC, and teaches field ecology at the University of British Columbia. He also works half-time for Bird Studies Canada, coordinating Canadian Christmas Bird Counts, the eBird program, and the British Columbia Owl Survey. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Science degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In addition, Cannings is the author of numerous books of natural history, including An Enchantment of Birds, Roadside Tours through the Okanagan, The BC Roadside Naturalist, The Rockies: A Natural History, British Columbia: A Natural History (with Sydney Cannings), and The Birds of the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia (with Sydney and Robert Cannings), among others. British Columbia: A Natural History won the Bill Duthie Booksellers Choice Award for best book published in British Columbia, the Canadian Science Writers’ Award, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for the best book on the history of British Columbia.

Cannings will begin work immediately from his home in Penticton, BC.
