Armed with her own insider’s experience of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, Wickenheiser will reveal the physical, mental, and emotional challenges; the friendships and rivalries; the community and isolation; and the struggles, disappointments, and successes that these elite athletes experienced during the Games. With Wickenheiser on the ground inside the storied Athletes’ Village, readers will understand what it’s like to live through the most high-pressure, high-profile sports event in the world. Greystone has acquired world rights to Gold Medal Diary in a deal arranged with sports agent Dan Kuzmarov of Newport Sports Management Inc. The book is scheduled for publication in September 2010. Hayley Wickenheiser is the captain of the Canadian women’s hockey team and is unarguably the best women’s hockey player in the world. Along with her four Olympic medals, she owns six World Cup gold medals and two silver; she was team MVP for two Olympic gold performances. Now thirty-one, Wickenheiser has been on the national team since she was fifteen and has played more games in international competition and has more goals, assists, and penalties than any other woman in the game.
