New Deal for The Sentimentalists Makes News across the Country

As the news spread this morning that Douglas & McIntyre had acquired paperback rights to the Giller Prize-winning book The Sentimentalists, social networks were abuzz, as were the country's major newspapers. Gaspereau Press publisher Andrew Steeves and Scott McIntyre have both been fielding calls and emails all day as people send their congratulations and generally express the feeling that this is a happy ending to what was last week a controversial story - one that was reaching a pitch. The positive outcome is a cross-Canada collaboration with the original publishers, Gaspereau, our Vancouver-based Douglas & McIntyre, and Manitoba printers Friesens, who have valiantly jumped in to print 60,000 copies - double the initial projected print run. Books will be in stores starting the week of November 27.
