Greystone Books is pleased to announce that Andrew Nikiforuk’s Empire of the Beetle: How Human Folly and a Tiny Bug Are Killing North America’s Great Forests has been selected as a finalist for the Wilfred Eggleston Award for Nonfiction.
Awards jurors deliberated 195 submissions to select 23 finalists in eight categories. Finalists represent extraordinary literary work written by Alberta authors. The two other competing titles in the Nonfiction category are, Intersecting Sets: A Poet Looks at Science by Alice Major (University of Alberta Press) and The Boy by Betty Jane Hegerat (Oolichan Books).
Winners will be announced and awards presented at the Alberta Book Awards Gala on Saturday June 9, 2012. The celebration will take place in Calgary alongside the WGA’s 2012 Writers Conference. The winner will receive $1,500.Read more about Empire of the Beetle >>
