In the Blodel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, John talks to gardener, writer, life philosopher Des Kennedy about his new memoir, The Way of a Gardener. While the setting is seemingly appropriate - it is a garden, after all - the surrounding tropical and exotic species are not necessarily what Des, a grounded, thoughtful and much-experienced man, can relate to. But as we find out, this conservatory holds a very special and sacred place in Des's memory - and this is a memory that holds 65 years of an incredible - and often unconventional - life's moments.
